James A. Davis, Jr., 70, of Etowah, died Monday morning, March 8, 2010 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.A native of Chicago, Ill., and resident of Etowah for the past 22 years, he was a son of the late James Arville Davis, Sr., and Helen Gagala Davis.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Davis; and a sister, Carole Barr.Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Davis of Chicago, Ill.; one daughter, Jill Nystrom of Cumming, Ga.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dawn Davis of New Lenox, Ill., and Jim Davis of Wilmington, Ill.; 4 grandchildren, Wade Davis, Max Nystrom, Mallory Nystrom, and Katie Nystrom; one sister and brother-in-law, Candace and David Love of Camden, Tenn.; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Wayne and May Davis of Lowell, Ind.; one brother-in-law, Gerald Barr of Palos Hills, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Conasauga Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
