Kenneth Ray Parrott, 71, of the New Zion community in Athens, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center.   A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late W.L. and Bessie Parrott.  He was a member of North Etowah Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, worked with the bus ministry and was a member of the choir. He was a former employee of Beaunit in Etowah; and was owner/operator of Parrott Farms. He was preceded in death by his parents, listed above; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Bertha Jenkins; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Delma Parrott and Arrie and Leota Parrott; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Bill Dalton; one brother-in-law, Thomas Turner; and one great-nephew, Anthony “Tony” Williams.   Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mildred Jenkins Parrott; two sons and daughter-in-law, David Kenneth Parrott of Mobile, AL and Scott Douglas and Patricia Parrott of Martin, TN, two grandchildren, Ava Riana and Zachary Christian Parrott of Martin, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Dewey and Thea Parrott of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Jackie Turner of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces, nephews and cousins.    Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 in the South Chapel with the Rev. Allen Bates officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday prior to the service.   Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Saturday, February 6th and proceed to Goodsprings Cemetery for the 10 am committal service. Jimmy Locke, Charles, Parrott, Kent Knox, Terry Dalton, Matt Price, Rick Dalton, DO Crockett and Pat Crockett will serve as pallbearers. Jerry Swafford, Jack Womac, Austin Williams, Ross Elkins and Rual Watson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
