Margaret Beatrice Newman

Margaret Burnette Newman, 74, of Delano, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Lucille Burnette; daughter, Janet Alisa; and brother, Glen Burnette. She attended Coghill Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Wendell “Dusty” Newman, whom she loved dearly; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Ernie Droke of Etowah; precious grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan and Abby, all of Etowah; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margie and Wayne Mull and Elaine and John Ward, all of Cleveland, and Evelyn Scroggins of Plattsburg, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Dr. Harold Curtis and the Rev. Joe Hatcher officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday and proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the 11 a.m. committal service.  David Ward, Marvin Newman, Steve Newman, Kevin Newman and Mike Brock will serve as pallbearers. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga TN 37416.

    Dusty and family we are so sorry for your loss , I always enjoyed the visit we had with margaret when she would come over to see Barbara she was always happy we would just sit around and talk while they would be working on a quilt or a wall hanging i really enjoyed her company.May God give you peace in knowing she is now home with him.

    Uncle Dusty and Anita…..words cannot express my heart felt sincerity. Aunt Margaret was my favorite and she always tried to make me laugh..and always did…..she had a beautiful smile and a wonderful sense of humor. Our family prayers are with you…and with time you will know she is in a better place…waiting for us all…….

    My Aunt Margaret and namesake. how i will miss her. she was one beautiful lady, aunt. sister, mother and grandmother. altho i had not seen in years thoughts always came to mind when i would take out the picture box and look back at the old photos she had given me on my last visit of my parents and her and Dusty. Altho gone from us she is with God and all the rest of the angels in heaven. i love you Aunt Margaret and i will miss you!! Take care of Robert in your journey as we miss him. you were always special to him.

    Anita,
    Mother and I were so shocked to hear of your dear mom’s passing. As I said in my post before, she was such a dear person, I will always remember her smile, she was always smiling, no matter what, and I’m sure she is smiling now. She kidded me a lot about Mom’s quilts, she wanted them all, but said she couldn’t have them because of Melanie and I. Mom really loved her and so did I, Mom is not getting out much anymore but wanted me to tell you that you are in her prayers and thoughts and well as mine and give our love to your Dad and the children.
