Edward “Ed” James, age 78 of Etowah, TN passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Woods Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Etowah where he lived all of his life. He worked in the insurance business for 25 years. Ed loved people and was very generous during his life. He was an active member of Brookhill Baptist Church of Etowah, TN and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Elsie James, a brother C.W. James and several aunts and uncles that were instrumental in his upbringing. Survivors include his wife of 53 years Helen James of Etowah, TN, daughter, Cindy J. James of Etowah, TN, son and daughter in-law, E. Perry and Janice James of Knoxville, TN, granddaughter, Sara Kaufman, two great-grandchildren Kylie Grace and Titus Kaufman, special aunt, Barbara Reynolds of Knoxville, TN and many countless friends that he loved and cherished. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. The Pastor Gary Higdon will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. , Friday January 4, 2013. Family and friends will proceed to Green Hill Cemetery, Saturday following the service. Pallbearers will be Ode Lanning, Robbie Shearer, Norman Wilson, Jason Wilson, Burt Jenkins and Tom Aderhold. Honorary pallbearers are Charles England and Bill White. A special thank you to the Internal Medicine Group and especially Dr. Ghazali Khan. I was shocked to hear of Ed’s passing on Tues, after us just talking about him on Monday, and how you had him in the ER. You are my dear friend, and I love you and your family, and our loss is Heaven’s gain. Love you. Connie
God certainly blessed Ed the day he met you, Helen. There was
pure happiness on his face as he told my parents about you.

We enjoyed seeing him at Tony’s and to learn of our mutual friend…..Wayne Dodson with whom Ed was an assistant Scout Master. I also enjoyed his participation with me and others at various scout leader functions.

Dear Family ~ it is so hard to be far away at times like this when we just want to give you all a big hug. Ed was very special to me. Very welcoming always with a big hug and smile even from his hospital bed when he got up to show off his cartoon boxer shorts. Such a fun loving guy. He will surely be missed by many. I was so sorry to hear about Eds passing. He and I started being friends in Grammar School. My sympathy go you, Helen, Cindy, Perry and family.
Helen & Cindy, I was so saddened to hear that Ed had passed. He was a wonderful man. I’ll never forget the days of working at Ace hardware and the Farmhouse, and Ed coming in for a visit.
