Funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday May 21, 2013 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Morgan officiating. Jenkins, 76, of Etowah, passed away, Thursday, May 16, 2013, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Etowah, he was retired from Western Electric, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard and he enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. A son of the late Wesley and Myrtle Jenkins, he was preceded in death by his parents, listed above and one brother, Gene Jenkins. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Judy Jenkins of Etowah, TN; 2 daughters, Kim Sims of Maryville, TN and Tammy Swilley of Riceville, TN; 2 sons, Marty Jenkins and Shane Jenkins both of Etowah, TN; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Adams, Kari Sims, Dylan Swilley and Abby Swilley, and Michala, Devin, and Lauren Jenkins; 1 great-grandchild, Kyler Grace Adams; 4 brothers, Albert, Larry, Robert, and Danny Jenkins; and 3 sisters, Joyce Lanning, Dianne Lanning and Kathy Mincey. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Vest officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home, at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21<sup>st</sup> and proceed to Green Hill Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m., committal service with military honors. A son of the late Elmer and Peggy L. Scroggs, he enjoyed driving a truck, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family.Survivors include his wife, Joyce Scroggs of Etowah; one daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Aaron Russell of Etowah; one son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Misti Scroggs of Etowah; his grandchildren, Christian Goforth, Tyler Cheatham, Briana Scroggs, McKenna Scroggs and Riley Scroggs; sisters and brothers-in-law, Veta and John Newland of Silver Springs, Fla., Kathy and David Cook of Philadelphia, and Sharon Frank of Madisonville; special friends, Dennis Perry of Sweetwater, and Eldon Buck of Englewood; and a lot of his co-workers from McKee Bakery who he enjoyed truck driving with throughout his 27 years. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Shane Lawson officiating. Interment to follow service at Hampton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christian Goforth, Tyler Cheatham, Matthew Scroggs, Aaron Russell, Dennis Perry and Eldon Buck. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ira Emory DeBord, 86, of Etowah, TN passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at his residence. He was a son of the late Will and Mae DeBord. A Veteran of the U.S. Army/National Guard, and he served his Country in the Korean War where he was awarded the good conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. Preceded in death by his brothers, Earl and George DeBord.  Avid Outdoorsman, he loved horses and loved playing his guitar. Ira was a loving husband, father and a devout Christian.  Survivors include, his wife, Barbara Hopson DeBord; children and spouses, Ricky and Patricia DeBord of Etowah, Rebecca and John Cole of Athens, Tom and Carlessa DeBord of Englewood, and Rhonda and Larry Reed of Englewood; 10 grandchildren, Brandy Billings, Josh, Jessica, Ashley and Alyssa DeBord, Autumn Rollo, Madison Cole, Nick and Nathan Reed and Caleb DeBord; 7 great-grandchildren, Gabby, Gracie and Ethan Billings, Journey Rollo, Dustin and Caitlyn Hunt and Dalton Parsons; brother and sister-in-law, Emmett and the late Helen DeBord; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ira’s twin sister, Opal and the late Jim Bates, Jean and the late Ernest Begley. 				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Rev. Amos Harriel Culberson, 86, of Etowah, TN passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home. Amos served in the 11<sup>th</sup> Airborne Division during WWII and then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He made 20+ successful jumps during his enlistment in the Airborne. After retirement, Amos began working with the Older American Workers of the US forest Service and continued this into his 70’s. A member of Cambria Baptist Church and he was a son of the late James Richard and Mary Vaughn Culberson. Preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Cole Culberson; grandson, Derrick Culberson; infant brothers, R.L.  and Robert; brother, Odell Culberson who died during the Korean Conflict and was serving at the same time as Amos; twin siblings, Ray and May Culberson; sister, Ruby Culberson Hamm; and sister-in-law, Jewell Burns Culberson.  Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Yolanda Culberson of Madisonville, and Troy and Debbie Culberson of Etowah; 3 grandchildren and spouses, Brad and Nicole Culberson, Eric and Ashley Culberson  and Stephanie and Mathew Vinyard; 2 brothers and 1 sister-in-law, Henry “T-Model” Culberson of Etowah, and James Richard and Joan Culberson of Douglasville, GA; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen and James Thomas of Etowah and Mary Emma and Fred Weeks of Athens, AL; 1 sister-in-law, Jean Daniel Culberson of Atlanta, GA; 6 great-grandchildren who were the joy of his life. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in the South Chapel, of Bordwine Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Waldrop officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble Wednesday, May 15<sup>th</sup> at Cambria Cemetery for the 11:00 a.m., Committal service with Military Honors.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Carolyn Joyce Choat Culpepper, 73, of Delano, passed away Tuesday evening, April 23, 2013 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. She was born January 17, 1940, in McMinn County and lived in Delano for most of her life.  She was the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie Choat of Goodsprings. Preceded in death by three brothers, Nelson Choate, Ernest Choat and Robert Choate; two sisters, Arbutus Mayfield and Daphne Blair; and son-in-law, Mark Berry. Carolyn Joyce was a 1957 graduate of Etowah High School; she also graduated from Cleveland School of Beauty. She owned and operated Cinderella Beauty Salon and worked as a hairstylist for 35 years. She was a member of Goodsprings Baptist Church until 1959, since that time she has been a member of Wetmore Baptist Church in Delano where she served as Choir Director for 9 years. She loved to sing and was a talented musician. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Max Culpepper of Delano; three daughters and sons-in-law, Renee and Don Webb of Delano, Natalie and Nathan Swafford of Delano and Angie Berry of Rome GA; her grandchildren include Matthew Swafford and wife Michelle of Delano, Candace Webb Carver and husband Blake of Delano, Max Robert Berry and Sara Joyce Berry of Rome, GA; and great-grandson, Gavin David Swafford of Delano; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Dorothy Choate of Kingston, Eugene and Carolyn Choate of Delano, and Dan and Jimmie Lou Choat of Goodsprings; three sisters, Martha Lou Armstrong of Englewood, Oveline Massingale of Goodsprings, and Pat Klein of Knoxville; she has several beloved nieces and nephews and a special friend, Tammy Kincaid of Etowah. Following a private burial at Goodsprings Cemetery, a memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Wetmore Baptist Church in Delano with Rev. Edward Earl officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 p.m., to 6:00 p.m., prior to the service at Wetmore Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wetmore Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Enhancement Fund, P.O. Box 26, Delano, TN 37325.</p>

She was a daughter of the late Claude and Pearl J. Casey and  was preceded in death by her parents, listed above; brothers, Kenning “Kenny”, Robert, and Claude Junior Casey; and sisters, Thelma Hubbard, Roberta Millsaps, Creed Earl Wilson, Cleo Freeman and Mildred Lewis. Survivors include her husband Michael Odoran Crockett of Englewood, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Lara Crockett of Englewood, TN; daughter, Crystal Cox of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Logan and Tyler Crockett, and April Abboud; great-grandchild’ Yasmine Abboud; and brother-in-law, Henry Lewis. A special thank you to NHC Healthcare of Athens and Amedysis Hospice. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Mars Hill Cemetery with the Pastor Kevin Cummins officiating. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, April 23, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Zaryn Chancey Stewart, 10 of Calera, AL, formerly of Etowah, TN, passed away, Wednesday, April 17, 2013. He was a native of McMinn County and preceded in death by his grandmother, Tammy Culberson; and great-grandmother, Jewell Culberson.        Survivors include  his mother, Lacey Chancey Holloway of Etowah; father, Samuel Stewart of FL; loving guardians, uncle and aunt, Brian and Rachel Bell of Calera, AL; brother, Avery Holloway; sister, Felicia Stough; grandparents, Steve and Kim Chancey of Benton, Roger Stewart, Wanda Reynolds, Eugenia Wilson and Anne Hobbs; great-grandparents, Henry “T-model” Culberson of Etowah, Betty and Jay Sarrell, Nell Harter; special aunt, Ashleigh Wilson; special cousins, Lee Anna Wilson, Lauren McCullough, Nikola McCullough and Brooke McCullough; Several aunts, uncles and cousins. Zaryn was a student at Elvin Hill Elementary School. He loved Spiderman, all sports, fishing  and loved to make people laugh. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday April 21, 2013 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., Sunday prior to the service. Interment to follow service at Sunrise Cemetery.</p>
